Non-Profit Organization: Bayou Barracudas is celebrating 20 years
of service to the community in 2006. Bayou Barracudas, Inc. is a 501c(3)
corporation and donations are deductible as allowed by law.
Experienced, Professional Coaches: The professional coaching
staff has over 30 years of coaching and teaching experience. Both
coaches, Frank Shepard and Duane Ring, bring years of expertise and
diligence to the team. Coach Shepard works full time for the team with
very little monetary compensation. Coach Ring is a volunteer. These two
individuals work for the love of the sports, and for the youth in this
community.
Winning Tradition: Bayou Barracudas has consistently produced
State Champions. For the past 21 years, Bayou Barracuda swimmers have
qualified for competition at State and Regional levels, a winning
tradition which continues today.
Developmental Programs: Bayou Barracudas takes great pride in
consistently developing and serving as many young and novice level
swimmers as any team in the area. At every level, Barracudas focus is on
individual swimmer’s well-bring and self-esteem.
Other programs: In addition to year round swimming, the
Barracudas organization offers: water polo league, American Red Cross
swimming lessons, lifeguard training, WSI training, CPR/First Aid
training, adult fitness swimming, swim clinics, offshore marine water
survival training, local high school practice facility, tri-athlete
training, and other programs are developed as needed by the community.
Volunteer Support: Growth of Barracudas has been driven by
outstanding volunteer parent and corporate support. The annual operating
budget is funded 100% by program fees, hosting swim meets, facility
rental, and parent fund-raising.
